[nokonoko journal] "Will you fax that to me?"

I’ve just changed the ink for fax machine…

It’s 2018 and it’s still going… Unbelievable.

  1. I can't remember when was the last time I saw a fax machine. For a time I had a fax number redirecting to email; I only received once a fax thru this channel a long time ago. It was more than 15 years ago...

Now that we have tablets with styluses, (eg. iPad +Apple pencil) doesn't that reduce the need for fax in Japan?

    1. Thanks for your comment, pjb!

Oddly enough, it's still relevant among particular generation or certain industry. And it's often needed when I get in touch with traditional organization. They have web and email and everything, but I guess it's more like a protocol... (you download forms from web, fill in and fax it back...)

  2. And I heard those Fax information service (obtaining news, info from specified fax number) still exist somewhere... I remember I used to dial cooking channel number, to get the recipe..

Now it's replaced by a thing called internet (duh), and netprint... I guess? netprint is a printing service provided at nation-wide convenience store. You get the printing number when you upload the file to the system, so by sharing the number people can print out the file. It's used for publishing ZINE for example. I like this.
